This act destined her to never fully leave the underworld, as according to divine law, anyone who consumes food from the underworld must remain there. Thus, Persephone spends one-third of the year with Hades in the underworld, and the rest of the time with her mother on earth.

It is said that the seeds of the pomegranate turned into garnets, glowing red and illuminating Persephone’s path in the underworld. Garnet has since been regarded as a symbol of love, representing commitment, fidelity, and steadfast emotions.
